We discovered a new thrift store in our area with a very interesting pricing structure. Every Thursday morning, everything in the store is $1.75. No exceptions.

On Friday, everything is $1.50.

On Saturday, everything is $1.25.

Each day the price drops by 25 cents until Wednesday when absolutely everything in the store is just 25 cents. That night after closing, they restock for the week ahead and on the following morning the cycle starts over.

Predictably enough, the crowds increase incrementally until it's a madhouse on Wednesdays. Everybody wants the best price. Conversely, it's very quiet earlier in the cycle, though Thursdays may have a few more people looking for the best selection. Not many want to pay higher prices, even if "full price" is still lower than Goodwill prices.

Here's my question for you: What day would you go? What do you believe this says about your own shopping style, or your frugal philosophy? You can choose up to 2 answers.

Now that you know why I made the switch from disposables to cloth diapers, I want to know what you think about the issue. I'm hoping you'll take a moment to leave a comment too.

Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post's poll.

I have to admit that while I love the money we're saving and the fact that I'm not chained to yet another disposable product, I do still have a few problems with cloth diapering.

We're having stinky-pee issues, and I think it has to do with our very hard water. We've tried vinegar and/or baking soda in the wash. I know there are other products I can buy to help, but I don't like giving up disposable diapers just to find myself committed to buying a special detergent for cloth diapers.

It's not a deal-breaker, but I really would like to find a solution.

update: We've had some terrific suggestions already in the comments, and can't wait to try them! Here's our current diaper-washing routine, to help those who are offering advice on our problem.

Dirty diapers get rinsed/scraped, and all diapers go in a dry bucket. We wash every 2-3 days.

Cold rinse

Hot wash with a little detergent, mostly homemade. Our hot water is not very hot, and our water is very hard.

We sometimes wash again with a load of towels.

How do you feel about cloth diapers?

It seems to me that the CVS craze includes far more than just shopping at that particular chain of stores. It's all about stacking coupons, sales, clearance deals and rebates to see how low can you go?

Can you walk into the store with 73 cents and a pocketful of coupons and come out with more bags than you carry?

There are many, many blogs dedicated to this mode of shopping. Money Saving Mom is at the top of the food chain, but there are plenty of others that help feed the deals to Crystal. Do you have one? Plug it in the comments!

How do you feel about shopping this way? Chime in on the new poll below.
