The Movie “Courageous”

Posted by: DL on Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

Reflecting back on the evening I spent watching a preview of the movie, Courageous, I decided to encourage all of you to consider this film as an investment.  Living the frugal life is not just about pinching pennies, but using our funds with wisdom and with consideration for the future.  What a wonderful date or family night this movie would make! I sincerely believe your money will be well spent.

I rarely recommend films.  All who know and love me would attest that I am not a movie person. Husband and I rarely go to theaters and seek to be very discerning of any DVD we bring into our home.  However, I do believe that we can be greatly impacted by what we see and how a message is delivered. The producers of the film, Courageous, have found a way to encourage parents and help them understand how important the role of the father is in a home.

This movie is rated PG-13 and seeks to provide a caution due to some violence and drug scenes.  Although in my opinion what is shown in the movie, is mild compared to what is on television, I would caution parents as well that there are some intense scenes. If you watch the trailer, you will see that this is an action film with some chase scenes, etc., but the meat of the film is far more than just chasing the bad guys.  Based on the interaction between four police officers, this film demonstrates that integrity and responsibility are still in vogue.

I for one, really appreciate the desire of the producers for the film, Courageous, to demonstrate to our society how we can impact the next generation for good or for evil.  The premier showing of this film is this Friday, September 30th.  Check the courageousthemovie.com for a theater near you!

I will receive no remuneration of any kind for this endorsement.

We have already purchased our tickets online so as not to have to wait in a long line since we are seeing it on the Fri (opening day). Frugal tip – we are seeing the movie at the the matinee (4:15) price ($6.50) instead of the evening when the prices go up! I know not everyone can do this but it is helping this homeschooling family of 6 to better be able to afford this.

Another quick note. We usually wait until a movie goes to DVD to see it, but you are right, we really need to support good Christian movies! Can’t wait to see it!

I watched it yesterday. Courageous was a great movie. It was very sad. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the theatre.

I saw this movie last night and I pray that many families will see it. This movie should leave every man that sees it reflecting on his life and the way he leads it. It is a movie like this that could really spark a turn to Jesus and a turn to the term FAMILY again. Guys I ask you to go see it and be Courageous when it comes to your family.

@Tallahassee It was! I was on the verge of tears but I for one try not to show too much sadness when watching films. I was trying hard to hold it in, but my eyes failed me.
But it was indeed really great!

LOL I agree. I thought it was better than Fireproof. It kinda reminds me of Ladder49 as far as a mixture of truly sad and truly comical.
