Check Out PerkStreet Financial!
Enjoying an evening visiting with New Son and Daughter, our conversation turned to finances. Their diligence in seeking to live the debt free life is an encouragement to Husband and I. After our discussion of budgets and the increased costs of gas and food, New Son took the opportunity to share about a venture of his. Always looking for a deal or a way to make some extra cash, New Son had found a debit card with some intriguing aspects.
He told us about PerkStreet Financial℠, an online checking account which offers 2% cash back on all purchases. It was working extremely well for him, and he had already earned $272 that month which he planned to redeem in MasterCard® gift cards.
Because PerkStreet Financial determined that Daughter did not have an adequate credit history to be approved by their regular application process, she was asked to submit a copy of her driver's license and marriage certificate. To compensate for the extra work, PerkStreet Financial gave them 5% cash back for the first month. New Son, always thinking of how best to work his finances, was able to pay several months ahead on his apartment rent and online college courses, resulting in $272.
In order to obtain the 2% cash back, the PerkStreet Financial MasterCard Debit Card must be swiped like a credit card without using a pin number, however it still draws money from your bank account like a normal debit card. For the first three months users automatically receive the 2% cash back. After that, they will still receive the same amount unless their balance drops below $5000, which will reduce the cash back to 1%.
Husband and I are thinking this PerkStreet Financial checking account would be a great place to keep our emergency fund. With the pitifully low interest rates being offered elsewhere, this sounds like an excellent alternative. I do want to be sure to inform you that the cash back is mailed to you in the form of gift cards, including a MasterCard gift card, which can be used anywhere MasterCard is accepted. Check out this link to see the assortment of possibilities.
As with any offer there are contingencies. Why don't you check out PerkStreet Financial and see if this deal is something you could take advantage of? Oh, and let me be sure to tell you that New Son is so pleased with this company that he has become an affiliate. If you should choose to sign up, he will benefit, and so will I! Don't we all like to help our children?
The PerkStreet Financial℠ Debit MasterCard® is issued by The Bancorp Bank pursuant to license from MasterCard International Incorporated.

A VISA gift card is not cash. So I don’t understand why they keep marketing it as cash back. If it was cash, then I could just deposit into my bank account, withdraw it from an ATM and put it in my wallet, to be cash it would have to be 100% liquid.
Their system really bites those of us who take any rewards/discounts and use them as extra savings or to accelerate paying off mortgage/credit card/etc.
There are some good things about Perkstreet, honesty is not one of them. Replace “cash back” with “rewards” and their tag line will accurately represent their product.

Gooch, I plan to take my cashback in the form of giftcards. These cards are used as cash in most places. In regards to your desire to pay off your mortgage use the giftcard to purchase something you would have used actual money for and then use the money saved to pay on your mortgage.

That doesn’t quite work where I’m at(overseas in Asia), US credit cards aren’t accepted everywhere and sometimes cards from certain issuers are rejected. So, I could get their gift cards and not be able to use them at all(unless they work online)
Second, since I won’t get a statement showing charges to these gifts cards I’d have to keep every receipt and manually enter it into my budgeting software to know where it went. With a checking/Visa check card, I can simply reconcile the statement(I do it weekly) to know where the money went and make sure I didn’t overspend any budget categories.
