How far are you willing to go to save a buck?.  Have you ever dumpster dived?  Eaten road-kill?  Dropped your Thanksgiving turkey on the floor and still served it to unknowing family and friends?  Leave me a comment confessing the farthest "out-there" frugal thing you've ever done.

In 1972, as a new bride, in a new home, far from family (my husband was a Marine, we were in Quantico Va. base housing) we had Thanksgiving for several of my husband’s fellow Marines who did not go home. I had worked so hard to make a perfect turkey. I had it all ‘decked out’ on the platter and was taking it to the dining table when it fell off the platter to the floor. I was crying then…those Marines picked it up, put it on the platter, and ate it without batting an eye.

Picked up two chairs for my backyard off the curb last week before trash was picked up. Not exactally dumpster diving for food. But, waste not want not….I often find that the bit of extra time spent figuring out how to get something you want without parting with your $$ is well worth the effort. The chairs i picked up retail for $18 dollars a piece at target. So, I win! Cause I kept $40 bucks in my pocket and got two perfect chairs!

I have gotten kids’ toys off the curb before. They’re often in great condition; people just want them OUT of the house!
