We saved, even before they got engaged, and were able to provide them with a lovely wedding just as daughter dreamed of. Not only did we pay cash for all of it, we came in under budget! Our new son-in-law really got into the spirit of it and worked a few deals on musicians, etc. We just had a wedding too: our second-born daughter. And in response to the question, everything is made better when it has been paid for in advance. It was so nice to have everything paid with cash! I had a daily budget, and kept track of everything we spent each day. In the evening I would add it up officially, and the entire family was so excited that we were under budget each day at Disney World!! :) Yes, my enjoyment is definitely enhanced by knowing there are no bills yet to be paid. It was also cool to come back from a vacation like that with money remaining and yet having had a great time and done everything we really wanted to do.
