I agree - but what about using an automatic timer to turn your water heater on for just a few hours each morning and/or evening?  We&#039;re toying with the idea.  I don&#039;t think it would be much of an inconvenience to use cold water throughout the day if we have hot water for our showers and evening dishes.</description>
