You CAN save more on your power bill; are you willing?

A reader over at my personal blog Life in a Shoe left me a fascinating link from Generation Cedar.  It seems that the author's neighbors have gone to extremes to cut the power bill for their large house and very large family to just $65/month.

Some of their changes were over-the-top for our family.  Others were changes we've already made.  A few are on my list of Crazy New Ideas to Casually Mention to My Husband.  Yes, I have a list.  Don't we all?

Are you ready for the link?  Family of 15 and $65 power bill: How do they do it?

It’s not all that radical idea really. We have a family of four and ours is $39/month.

Taking a hot shower is one of the highlights of my day. Worth every penny!

Kimberly,
I agree – but what about using an automatic timer to turn your water heater on for just a few hours each morning and/or evening? We’re toying with the idea. I don’t think it would be much of an inconvenience to use cold water throughout the day if we have hot water for our showers and evening dishes.

What about washing hands after the bathroom? I do not like cold water for that.
