Gosh, that brings back great Pacific Northwest memories!

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away .... or, about 35 years ago when I was a newlywed 19 year old bride in little old Lake City, northend Seattle .... our rented house was surrounded by enormous wild blackberry bushes! Considering our tiny food budget, I was definitely not letting those free berries go to waste.

I didn't have any idea how to can, and was only learning how to cook, but I did manage to make great pies, cobblers, and the most delicous freezer jam!

I'm far away in Alabama now - Wish I could get my hands on some of those berries again!!

Thanks for the great ideas on free food, I'll have to see if I can apply some around here in farm country.

I love all these ideas!!! I think I'm going to find ways to do at least some of these. I don't know how to can anything, so I'll have to check out a library book or go online to learn how, but if it helps me to stock up and not spend money, I'm all for it! Thanks for the suggestions!
