Fast food dollar menus
There's a fast food thread over on the forum, and I think it's confession time. We know it's bad for us but nearly everyone indulges in fast food now and then, right? So let's swap notes.
Which chains have a dollar menu?
Which ones have the best deals, and which have the best (cheap) fast food?
And while we're at it, let's do a poll. Come on, tell the truth.

All we have here for a $1 menu is Sonic. And if you wanna grab something you can get a snack. But your better deals are kids meals. Small meal for around 3.00 or so and you get a toy or at DQ ice cream.
BTW our Dairy Queen has .99 burger night and .69 taco night. And one of our cafe’s has a .99 burger lunch once a week.
It is all in looking around.

Since watching SuperSize me, I have only eaten at Culver’s (which is semi-fast food) and Fazoli’s. The latter has gone downhill (smaller sizes, not as good food) and I haven’t eaten in there in about a year now. Culver’s is owned by a grad from my university and he supports this place and other local places (he lives in the area) and isn’t quite as cheap as the big chains, so I can live with it. I never eat meat there, however. The idea of going to McD’s or similar sickens me. My DH still eats there, but at least so far, my daughter hasn’t (she’s 4, and the two I named are the only ones she’s eaten at as I’ve been doing this for about 5 years I think).
It’s just cheaper and healthier to eat a pb & j sandwich at home if you are looking for cheap and fast.

lol
today me and nessa stopped in at sonic
she ordered a combo meal and it was $7.++
I ordered 5 items on the $ menu and had more to eat than her and paid $2.00 less.

Subway has $5 footlong subs and I get two lunches out of that. Not quite a dollar, not quite fast food but still pretty fast and pretty cheap.

I don’t like your poll choices! lol But you know I think outside the box.
I can count on one hand the times we’ve stopped to eat out in the last year. Probably half of those times were MickyDs for celebratory ice cream sundaes.

We usually try not to eat fast food. I read the book Fast Food Nation (which I think everyone should read) in college and have a problem with a lot of things with the fast food industry. However, sometimes it is neccessary for us to grab something either in a pinch (usually on vacation) or to tide us over until we get done running errands and can cook dinner.
We have a chain called Taco Bueno which is a lot like Taco Bell, but the quality (IMO) is MUCH better! They have a “party menu” which has many items less than $1. Normally one bean burrito will fill me up and so that is a wonderful thing to grab on the go with lots of protein to keep me from getting too run down or crabby

If you live in California, then you can find excellent dollar menus at McDonald’s, Jack In The Box, Wendy’s, and now even Taco Bell, among many many others.
Personally I recommend Jack In The Box – if only just for the $1 chicken sandwiches

I don’t feel “guilty” about eating fast food, but I don’t like a lot of it. Yesterday morning I had the McDonald’s breakfast plate, and those scrambled eggs are among the most disgusting things I’ve ever eaten.
I do eat at times at some chains such as Taco Bell, Quizno (best chain sandwich shop around), and Tim Horton’s.

Pretty much ONLY eat fast food if we’re stuck on day two of a long car ride (or on the way back from someone’s house on a multi-hour car ride). Normally I just pack snacks for the car.

Dairy Queens around the country now have an great deal. you can choose between 9 items, you get 2 for $3, 3 for $4 and 4 for $5. Dairy Queens have some of the best quality fast food around IMO.

YAY – we support Culver’s too b/c we went to that same U! But yes, we occasionally eat at the Golden Arches too. We can feed our family of 4 for less than $2 each. We share one fry and each get a sandwich. We drink water…as for Culver’s, it’s sort of a church thing too. A lot of people go there to socialize after service on Saturdays. We haven’t been lately since the kids have an early bedtime, but I think saving up to socialize is worth it sometimes.

For a diabetic the McD $ menu works the best. DH and I can eat for about $5 and that includes his chocolate shake (not on the $ menu). It keeps me under my carb count as well. We never order off the regular menu. After reading EAT THIS, NOT THAT I checked Wendy’s (ok), Taco Bell, Taco Johns, DQ (food tastes awful, ice cream is good) Culvers etc. McD won for taste, price, and carb count.
