Thankful for the Now
Sometimes I look towards the future so much, I forget to enjoy what I have today. Someday I may be able to serve Thanksgiving from a beautiful mahogany table with an actual table leaf and matching chairs and not from my secondhand table with a wobbly card table and borrowed chairs shoved up next to it, but today I am thankful for friends and family who do not care about the table or the mismatched secondhand dishes. It is a joyful thing to have enough to share this year.
What small things in this moment are you thankful for today?

Air! I can breath clean air. I can feel air moving around me cooling my body. Air blows in my hair making it dance. Air fills me, surrounds me and sustains me.

I’m thankful for a husband that, although he has hemophilia, hasn’t had to have a blood treatment in over two years. (i’m VERY thankful this past weekend’s accident was no worse than it was).
I’m thankful for a sister who was there for me through the whole thing, even though she was 100 miles away.
For a beautiful new house, a stable job, and a frugal heart and mind.

I am thankful for the love of my partner Matt. without him life would be so much harder.
This year especially as my mother died and he was so wonderful throughout.

What a wonderful reminder. I’m thankful for my husband and kids, and our extended family who’ll be coming to visit – in spite of our old furniture and crowded rooms!

Like most people, I have a million things to be thankful, but you don’t want to hear my whole list. Here’s the short version:
At the moment, I’m thankful for the mild south Texas fall weather and my nearly-complete kitchen. My (recently repaired) working oven is a sweet bonus.
I’m also thankful for children so eager to help make Thanksgiving pies that I have to go start them RIGHT NOW.
