LOL! I'm sorry for your misery, but that is rather funny. Perhaps I should be grateful that my daughter is going the frugal route of avoiding the toilet paper altogether? Seriously, I'd rather pay a little bit extra... but maybe not half a roll's worth. Can you find a compromise at one good, long pull- enough to make a pleasant wad but not drive his mom to insanity?

I don't know how much of a pain it would be to remove the toilet paper out of the bathroom and just have him yell for some when he needs it. I have a serious fear of an overflowing dirty toilet though.

I guess you should be glad you're not still doing the wiping. I still get called to do a check wipe everyday (which I don't mind too much since I know then that she's clean).

If I've learned anything from being married to a hard-headed man, it's that nagging never works. You have to make something beneficial to him before he will do it. When I began training him financially, I offered monthly rewards for no ATM fees. Make it a contest and offer rewards. Estimate the time that you would like for a roll of tissue to last and offer a prize if it lasts that long. The prize doesn't have to cost anything; it could be something that you do for him, or the entire family. You can be sure that the TP culprit will not only be mindful of how much he himself uses, but will be vigilant of how much other people use as well.

My kindergartener leaves the roll of TP on the floor. (Ok, I should put the roll on the dispenser, but they go through it so quickly, it's hard to keep up! {and even when I do put it on the dispenser, she leaves a long puddle of paper hanging down onto the floor}) Then she gets the floor wet when she takes a bath and wets the roll. I told her the next time I saw the TP on the floor, I was going to put up all the TP and make her go get a basket of pine cones to wipe with. Lacking pine cones in our yard, I told her to gather some pine straw from the flower beds. I did not acutally make her use it, but I thought that the absurity of wiping with pine cones would help her to think about it whenever she used the TP and hopefully to make sure the roll was not on the floor.

i try to cut costs where i can, but i will not remove flushable wipes from the budget! my girls know they can only use one at a time, so while they may be a little expensive i consider them worth it. and they are better at cleaning than TP.

I find it's not the child using an unusual amount of toilet paper, but the dog, who likes to grab hold of the end that hangs down and run around the house spewing TP all over the place. We've learned to shut our bathroom doors....

Family cloth isn't as extreme as people think. Just sayin'. And it's as close to free as it gets!

(and it gives a super thorough wipe)

My child (who is now 20) never did learn to use an acceptable amount of TP. She has her own apartment now and has to do her own plumbing and she still uses enough for 4 people. I love her anyway.
