Would you like to have your blog featured here? If you are a member of the Frugal Blogroll, just email me for a questionnaire.

This week's featured blogger is Alison from This Wasn't In The Plan.Tell me a little about yourself: who are you?

I'm a 27 year old stay at home mom to two little boys, a three year old and an eight month old (on my blog I refer to them as Bug and Monkey). Before having kids, I was an elementary school teacher. I love teaching and hope to return to it one day. I enjoy scrapbooking, cooking, playing the piano, volleyball, tennis, reading, and surfing the internet, but don't have nearly enough time for it all.

When did you start blogging? Why do you blog?

I started blogging about three years ago as a way to let family and friends know what we were up to. I loved writing for an audience, which is odd because I've never been much of a writer, and wanted to write for a bigger audience, so I started This Wasn't In The Plan last October. I love the world of blogging and am so excited to be a part of it.

How did you come up with your blog title?

Once upon a time, I thought I'd graduate from college, get married, and have lots of money. That was the plan. I've got the first two taken care of, but plenty of things keep popping up that weren't a part of my plan. Hence the name of my blog.

Define frugality in your own words. Do you think it means different things to different people?

I think being frugal means making smart money choices. For example, finding the best deals on things you need, going without things you don't need, and making the most of what you have. I know that frugality is a personal thing, thus it probably does mean different things to different people.

How important is frugality to you? Casual interest, hobby, lifelong habit, or insane fanatical obsessive compulsion?

Probably a combination actually. Sometimes my husband would probably tell you that I was a bit fanatical about it, but it probably really mainly falls into the hobby category. I enjoy finding ways to use what I have on hand already, or ways to achieve my desired end result without using a whole lot of money. It probably will become a lifelong habit. I hope in the future to have more money to spend than I do right now. But I hope that my husband and I will still be living frugally and making smart choices with our money, and foregoing some lesser things in order to have the things that are more important to us.

Does frugal living come easily for you or is it a struggle?

For the most part, it seems to come really naturally. Sometimes (okay, probably often) I get caught up in what others are doing, or appear to be doing, and frugal living becomes more of a struggle. It's during those times that I try to focus on the future as opposed to what I'm giving up now. Blogging also helps to keep me in check.

Thanks so much for this opportunity!
