Heather blogs at Freebies 4 Mom, where she specializes in helping moms find - what else? - freebies!

Tell me a little about yourself: who are you?
I'm a stay-at-home mom to two toddler-aged boys. Before becoming a mom, I worked as a civil engineer. The engineer in me has made me a student of how to get things for free. I enjoy getting into the details of the offers I find and doing research on them.

When did you start blogging? Why do you blog?
I started blogging in October, when I created Freebies 4 Mom. I had been sending all my "mom friends" a weekly e-mail listing new freebies I found, but when my list grew to over 100 moms I realized I needed to take my freebies to a new format. I blog for fun. If it stops feeling like fun for me, then I will stop blogging. My hope is that my blog will help other moms to save money, and more importantly learn how to spoil themselves for free. I think that as moms we forget that we deserve a little spoiling!

How did you come up with your blog header?
Getting freebies is like getting presents, and I believe that moms definitely deserve presents! Being a mom is challenging, so why not take advantage of the great promotions that companies have and get some freebies? I am always amazed at what I am able to get for free, just for paying attention and reading the fine print.

Why be frugal?
To be frugal is to be smart. It doesn't matter what your income is, because how you spend your money reflects on what values you have. The smart mom takes advantage of freebies because it can help her stretch the budget on consumable items like food, household products, and kids items. Freebies can help you stick to your budget, and then you have more money available for savings.

Do you think there is a downside to being frugal?
Being frugal is not popular, but that's ok because we aren't in high school anymore.

Did it take you a while to "find your voice," or do you feel you've always been the same as a blogger?
My voice has always been there, I just didn't have an effective way of communicating it until I started blogging. You may notice that my blog is fairly concise. This stems from my background as an engineer, I tend to be direct about what I want to say, and not use excess words. But I also like to share the details.

What do you know about your readers? What do you think draws them to your blog?
My readers are people (mostly moms) who love freebies. They come back every day to get the latest and greatest because the offers change so quickly.

Do you have a favorite frugal site?
Hooray for free-bates! is my favorite frugal site right now because I can give it a quick glance before going to the store and find out what all of the "free after rebate" deals are each week. It is saving me time and money. And I am tickled pink that the author, Lori, told me that I inspired her to start blogging about free-bates.

Do you believe the saying, "you get what you pay for"?
No, but I believe in the saying "I won't buy it unless you pay me to take it out of the store!" I try to be a smart shopper and combine coupons, rebates, manufacturer's promotions, and store promotions to get some better-than-free deals.

Thank you for the opportunity to share more about Freebies 4 Mom with your readers! I am looking forward to sharing Frugal Hacks with all of my readers in my future posts!
