Frugal Hacks is Back!!

Posted by: kimc on Thursday, February 14th, 2008

After about 15 hours in the chair, Frugal Hacks is back!  I'm so sorry for the unexcused absence, but I hope this will be the beginning of some smooth sailing.

We have switched webhosts to an established service recommended by a friend whose family has run web based businesses for many years.  We really respect his opinion and are so happy to be starting fresh!  They also have a generous affiliate program, so I'll be sure to keep you updated on our level of satisfaction.  ;)

Thanks for sticking with us this week.  I've learned a lot about patience, perseverance, and the Internet, and I've also learned that cheapest is not always the best.

I knew this already, but sometimes we have to learn hard lessons the hard way more than once.  Please tell me I'm not the only one.  Care to share a story to make me feel better?

Two words: toilet paper. Cheaper is NOT always better. :)

Glad you’re back!

Bless your heart! Thanks for all your hard work. So many people appreciate and benefit from Frugal Hacks, myself included.

Great news! I’m in the process of learning that “cheaper is not always better” when it comes to car repairs – we keep going back to get more parts replaced that just aren’t working like they should!

I’m glad to hear that all is well again, but I didn’t miss anything… I’ve been in bed with a fever of 102 for the last two days.

I’m not sure whose 15 hours was better. lol I might have you beat. ;)

Glad you got things working again – it is so frustrating to have web hosting issues. If you don’t mind my asking, who is your new webhost? (I’m considering switching from my current host)

Thanks!

Melody,
Sorry – I just caught your question. Our new host is 1and1. They have less frills (no fantastico one-click installation of WordPress) but a far meatier package and are well established. $5/month buys a package that includes 2 domains, will host up to 50 domains (!!!)and will make almost any user happy.
We were paying $3/month for more frills but less meat. I don’t think the fancier packaging served us well. I feel like I just traded the $1.19 box of Hamburger Helper for a $1.99 lb. of ground round.
:)

Kim, thanks so much! I’ve actually had two other people recommend 1and1.com to me this week – so I will really take a look at them. Thank you!
