What does "frugal" mean to you? What do you think it means to other people?

To me frugality is synonymous with good stewardship; using your resources wisely and avoiding waste and excessive spending regardless of your income level. Of course, having a small budget to work with is a great motivator to be frugal! I think too often people confuse frugal with tightwad. You can be frugal and generous and spend money on the things you
feel are worthwhile. It is not about hoarding every penny.

Does frugal living come easily for you or is it a struggle?

Frugal living does come naturally to me for the most part. I am a very practical person, and tend to avoid excess by nature, but learning to get the most with our resources has been and continues to be a learning process.

How does the rest of your family feel about your frugal ideas?

My husband also enjoys being frugal. The kids haven't complained much about our frugal lifestyle, but of course they are still young and this is all they have known. Most of our extended family appreciates our frugal lifestyle, even if they find somethings, like cloth diapers, a little overboard.

Thanks Kim!

I have loved reading Stop the Ride and getting to know Stephanie- thanks so much for spotlighting her! I resonate with the ‘practicality’ motivation for frugality.
