Don’t Miss Those Christmas Specials
I love to watch all of those wonderful Christmas shows on television. The season wouldn't be complete without the Charlie Brown Christmas Special, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, & Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.
We have a DVR now so I am able to record the specials on television so the children can watch them over and over again. If you have the TiVo service, you can search using keywords like, "CHRISTMAS" or "HOLIDAYS" to find all of the holiday specials on television. TiVo has an added feature where you can automatically tape anything in this category or you can hand pick each one for your holiday viewing.
For those without the DVR, I happened upon this amazing website last year. It's called, "It's a Wonderful CHRISTmas," and it includes a listing of all of the television specials and a list of all their favorite holiday movies of all time for the holidays.
For frugal families, you can record all of the specials and movies on television and watch them together as a family for a family night. If there are movies that you would like to see that won't be on television, check them out from your local library instead. We checked out a big stack of them over Thanksgiving weekend and discovered some new favorites to add to our growing list.
Sound Off: What is your favorite Christmas special? Do you have any new ones this year?

Being stationed overseas with the military, we take what we can get for Christmas specials. We do have some kids movies.
Growing up we always watched “Christmas Story”. I tried borrowing it from our library for The Boy to watch, but the copy was all scratched.
We also watched “It’s a Wonderful Life” growing up. No one was allowed to join our family until they had watched it at least once!

Without a doubt, The Year Without A Santa Clause, followed closely by A Christmas Story. I need to check the listings so I can DVR our family favorites too!

My very favorite is probably Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer…just lots of childhood memories wound up in that one, and Frosty the Snowman, too, though I can remember that one making me sad when I was a little girl. Frosty melting and all. It was a little traumatic.
I love so many of the Christmas movies, the cheesy and sappy the better! I kind of liked the new one on last week, “Shrek the Halls.” It was cute.

Great suggestion, thanks for that!

We tivo’d Shrek The Halls and my daughter keeps wanting to watch it over and over. I admit that it -is- cute. But, my personal favorites are The Nutcracker Suite ballet that sometimes gets shown on PBS and 1938′s ‘A Christmas Carol’ starring Reginald Owen.

I’ve been looking all over for a cheap copy of Mickey’s Christmas Carol. I loved that cartoon growing up.
