Find an off-beat source of food, like discount groceries, bread outlets, and/or Mennonite markets. A combination of these is what led me away from the coupon trade a few years ago.

(With snack-hungry kids, I’m once again couponing, but not to the degree I once did.)

I do my regular shopping at the grocery store with the best all-around, non-sale prices. If another store has a spectacular sale, I’ll stock up, but when I do all my shopping at national chains like Albertson’s and Smith’s, I usually end up spending roughly twice as much for the same thing. Even their store brands are more expensive.
