Saturday Savings Smorgasbord

Posted by: guest on Saturday, September 22nd, 2007

Hi! I'm Crystal Paine from Biblical Womanhood and the new Money Saving Mom blog. Every Saturday (Lord-willing!), I will be here sharing some great frugal links I've collected over the past week. Here's my first installment for your enjoyment and perusal:

*If you have a Kroger or Kroger-affiliated grocery store nearby, you might want to run over there and pick up some $0.25 cereal. More details are here.

*Did you know that next Saturday, September 29th, is Free Museum Entrance day? Get the scoop here. (Hat-tip to Mandy.)

*Ann'Re has a thought-provoking post for all of us bargain hunters asking, Do you really need it? This is one reason why I'm such a budget fanatic. If you are bargain shopping without a budget, you'll easily end up with a whole lot of junk that you don't need and won't use. You will have gotten yourself a big bargain on clutter - which, no matter how inexpensive, isn't a good deal.

*And finally, I wrap up this link list, pointing you in the direction of my fellow frugal aficionado, Rachel, who posted yesterday on the blessings and benefits her family and others have received from her wise stewardship with coupons.

I totally agree with asking whether you actually NEED that bargain! I passed up several “bargains” today because I walked around with them in the cart long enough to realize that I could save $20 by not buying these 3 sale items, even though they were a good price. We just didn’t NEED them!

That’s neat about the free museum admission. My husband and I have been wanting to visit the Hermitage in Nashville, TN for a while, so this will be a lot of fun! Glad I found out about it.

I’m so glad you posted about joining Frugal Hacks on Saturdays – I hadn’t found this blog yet! Looks like there will be lots of resources for me to dig through in the archives. YAY!

Can’t wait to check out the museums. I’ll be out of town this weekend and a freebie day at one of the museums in our new town would be perfect for my hubby and the kiddos. Many thanks.
