Join Here: get the code!

If your blog focuses on frugal living, finding deals, spending less or getting more for your money, insert the code in your sidebar and join the list!
The fine print:

  1. Your blog must be clean and family-friendly and must be compatible with a Christian worldview. I reserve the right to reject any blog that I deem to be inappropriate.
  2. Your blog does not need to be explicitly or exclusively about frugality, but must have an obvious bent in that direction. You know who you are, and it will show.
  3. Add the following code to your sidebar. When you are done you should see a list of all the blogroll members.
  4. Email me using the form at the bottom of the page. Once I’ve had a look at your blog I’ll add you to the list.

Easy, right? Now here’s the code.

OPTION 1:

The first line is optional.

<p class="sideheader">Frugal Blogroll</p>
<a href="http://frugalhacks.com/?page_id=65"> **join here**</a>

<script src="http://rpc.blogrolling.com/display.php?r=ae7cadbf39b863c96fca9f4c21d0d51e" language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> </script>

OPTION 2

Thanks to Mrs. Mecomber, there is a new option for members! Instead of showing the badge or the entire Frugal Blogroll (500 members and counting!) you can now use Mrs. Mecomber’s easy script to create a scrolling box and show just as much of the blogroll as you want.

Frugal Blogroll

**join here**

The box is set by default to be 250 pixels high, but you can change the number to make it as tall or short as you like. I made it 750 in my own sidebar to show plenty of links without entirely taking over the sidebar. To learn more about customizing your scrolling box, read Mrs. Mecomber’s easy tutorial here. She has also volunteered to answer questions about using the scrolling box, so let her know if you run into problems.
If you are on Wordpress instead of Blogger you can delete the second line (<p class=”sideheader”>Frugal Blogroll</p) and just name your widget “Frugal Blogroll.”

OPTION 3

nstead of adding the entire blogroll, members now have the option of adding the Frugal Hacks badge with a link back to the blogroll.

Frugal Hackers badge

Just save this nifty why-yes-I-made-it-myself button and upload it to your blog with a link to http://frugalhacks.com/?page_id=65.

You can use the code below as is, or upload the image yourself and replace the image src=”http…” with a url of your own. If that doesn’t make sense to you, use as is. :)

<a href="http://frugalhacks.com/?page_id=65"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1135/1214545876_e809dc7a2a_o.gif" /></a>

Troubleshooting:
If the full blogroll or badge doesn’t appear, check the following:

I just tried to add the code above (with [ ]replaced with <> )in the “add page element: java script/html” and your blog archive overtook the entire right hand side of my page. I must have done something wrong. I would like to be included but I can’t have your archives superceding mine. Would a link here be good enough to join the frugal party? Please let me know. First, Leah–Blogger allows you to move that around. Start at your Dashboard >> Layout >> Template >> Page Elements >> Add a Page Element >> (put the code in there). The top page element will be labeled HTML/JavaScript–that is the code you just put in. Click and drag it down as far as you want and you’re set!

Kim, I want to join too!

Thanks and God bless!
